A unique experience at Lac Rose
Leaving your hotel, head for the mythical Lac Rose, one of Senegal's most stunning sites. This unique lake, whose hues vary from pale pink to intense mauve depending on the light, is famous for its high salinity - almost 380 grams of salt per liter of water - allowing it to float effortlessly, much like the Dead Sea.
You'll start with a visit to the salt works, where you'll discover the artisanal salt extraction work, mainly carried out by Peul women from the surrounding villages. To better appreciate this traditional activity, enjoy a pirogue ride on the lake, as close as possible to the extraction areas, where you can watch the salt pickers in action.
A major venue for the Paris-Dakar rally, Lac Rose has long been the emblematic finishing point of this legendary race, adding a mythical dimension to the landscape.
