Djoudj National Bird Park (November to April)
Departure from your hotel at 8am for Djoudj National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. This unique sanctuary is the third largest ornithological site in the world, home to nearly 3 million birds and over 350 species: white pelicans, pink flamingos, herons, ibises, cormorants, African spoonbills, falcons and many more.
Embark on a 1h30 pirogue trip through mangroves and lagoons to observe birds in their natural habitat. The park is also home to crocodiles, monitor lizards, warthogs and sometimes even monkeys.
Lunch at the Océan & Savane camp, before heading back to Saly or the surrounding area in the early afternoon.
Langue de Barbarie Reserve (May to October)
During the Djoudj's seasonal closure (May to October), the excursion is replaced by a visit to the Langue de Barbarie National Park, a nature reserve located between the Senegal River and the Atlantic Ocean, accessible only by pirogue.
Departure at 9:30 am after breakfast. Aboard a pirogue, you'll explore a rich, unspoilt ecosystem, nesting ground for numerous species of seabirds such as pink flamingos, pelicans, royal terns and gulls, and a refuge for the sea turtles that come here to lay their eggs.
Lunch at the Océan & Savane camp, followed by a moment of relaxation before returning to Saly or the surrounding area in the early afternoon.
